The Geator is back for a evening of street corner memories. Little Anthony and the Imperials, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, and Kenny Vance and the Planotones reprise their soulful hits. Due to illness, Harvey Fuqua of the Moonglows will not be performing.
How was the show? Did you feel like slow dancing?
The show was FANTASTIC! We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed all the performers. We felt transported back in time--all of the sounds/songs we enjoyed sounded the same as we remembered. Thanks so much for a fabulous evening of entertainment!
This was our first visit to the Kimmel Center. It will not be our last!
We could have danced all night!!! We have been to many of Jerry's shows at the Kimmel and we think this was one of his best. He gave a lot of history in between the songs and took time to chat with the artists and talk about their careers. It was like a combination of a concert and a classic Geator radio show. We loved it. Not to mention his amazing, colorful costumes! He is a true showman. Kenny Vance's act was very funny and Little Anthony did some of his lesser known but just as great material that we rarely get to hear, a real bonus. The orchestra was fantastic and the arrangements were SO beautiful. Yes, we felt like dancing but it sure wasn't slow! All the acts were amazing and there were many standing ovations. The high point of the night had to be the finale with all the acts singing 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling.' Unforgettable! It was a very energizing, dramatic and wonderful concert.
Wow, what a great show! Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge, taking us back in time. Kenny Vance's voice, so deep & harmonizing. Little Anthony & the Imperials, terrific vocals...reminded me so much of when I was a kid growing up in SouthWest Philly watching American Bandstand, listening to Jerry Blavat on the radio. All the great songs, great music which inspired us to dance.
I haven't been back to Philly for 32 yrs., we live out of state, this show was very special to us.
Thanks for the great memories, the Kimmel Center is beautiful! Kudo's to the fabulous orchestra!
Jerry always puts on an excellent concert. A lot of hard work on his part to put on a concert that just makes the music lover understand how valuable he is to the wonder of live music. All of the concerts feature an orchestra with strings. They rehearse for the performance and all music is played and sung in the key it was written. It takes a year of Jerry's hard work to put one of his Kimmel concerts together. Now that is dedication, love of music, and true character. He's the best and dedicates himself to giving his audience's moer than their monies worth. Now other concert promoter or DJ can put a claim to that fame or accolades. He's the best!
