The Mingus Big Band makes its Kimmel Center debut tonight along with special guest the Cyrus Chestnut Trio. Due to illness, T.S. Monk will not be performing. The Mingus Big Band celebrates the music of legendary bassist and composer Charles Mingus. Pianist Cyrus Chestnut leads his trio through the full range of jazz moods: playful, virtuosic, lyrical and always deeply soulful.
