Hi! My name is Juliet, and I was one of the Kimmel’s programming interns for this summer. This summer flew by, mostly due to my internship—I had such a blast! I worked with many people throughout the organization (not just in programming!) and got first hand experience with so many things.
Here’s a quick run-down:
· Edited artist contracts
· Sent out meet and greet request forms
· Updated various spreadsheets
· Attended weekly meetings alongside my lovely supervisor, Erin Palmer
· Updated the Kimmel Center MySpace page (pictures and blog included!)
· Researched information on performers, local artists, and new media
· Attended the Blog Philadelphia conference at the beautiful Warwick Hotel
· Helped organize, present, and promote events! This part was great – the shows that were highlights for me were Harry Connick, Jr. and the Summer Solstice Celebration, which from now on I plan on making a yearly event for myself!
Currently, I’m helping put together a CD compilation called Sounds of the Season, which features artists who will be performing in the upcoming season at the Kimmel. All these things are really only the tip of the iceberg, but these tasks are what made up most of my day!
The best part I would say about the whole internship is getting to be involved in such a wonderful and rich arts community. I spent some quality time in the beautiful Kimmel venues, and got to know the fantastic Kimmel Center staff. I had a great time this summer, and would recommend this position for those seeking a valuable internship :).
