I know there are a TON of WICKED fans out there in Philadelphia - expecially after the smash-hit sold out engagement we had here last March. I also know that many of you are coming back this summer to check it out again. But...before you start DEFY(ing) GRAVITY again - why don't you come by this January and find your CORNER OF THE SKY?
Stephen Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics to WICKED, and is very proud of the production. Long before he wrote WICKED, he was writing shows to bring magic and wonder to the Broadway stage. One of his first productions, PIPPIN, is coming to Philadelphia this January.
Mr. Schwartz says, “Reviving Pippin now makes a lot of sense: after all, when it premiered in 1972, the country was in the middle of a war that was very controversial amongst our own people. It was a time not unlike our own, and those aspects are certainly dealt with in the show, and therefore, this seems a time when the show may have more relevance than it would have perhaps ten or fifteen years ago.”
PIPPIN is a great musical comedy, and this production of PIPPIN is a musical comedy meets Cirque du Soleil meets The Magic Show. It’s full of pizzazz and color and melody. Mr. Schwartz also teamed with his musical director from WICKED, Stephen Oremus, who did some of the arrangements from that show, so that the score sounds like it’s here and now.
PIPPIN, like WICKED, is a show that comes to mean a great to deal to its fans. I hope you’ll come and experience the amazing, mystical, magical atmosphere of PIPPIN.
PIPPIN is playing January 11-15, 2007 at the Forrest Theatre in as part of the Broadway at the Academy series. Come and let us dazzle you again! For tickets visit the Forrest Theatre website or go directly to Telecharge.com
