This performance closes our two-week-long Organ Festival. Manfred Honeck leads the PSO with organist Jeffrey Brillhart, who is also Director of Music and Fine Arts at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, through works by Mozart, Poulenc and Tchaikovsky. The music critic for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review recently wrote about Honeck, saying, "His sensational debut here two weeks ago created a buzz at Heinz Hall akin to when Mariss Jansons first conducted the Pittsburgh Symphony six years ago."
The level of interest in the new organ has been such a pleasant surprise and so has reading the comments on the blog. If you're able to attend, I hope you'll take a minute to let us know how you enjoyed this last concert.
Edited to add: Here's a link to the Inquirer's review of the PSO, headlined "Pittsburgh's guest conductor a true contender"
I have never heard that Poulenc piece. It was amazing. I really liked the part toward the end, where it like dancing.
Im glad that theres a new pipe organ in your hall. I have already hear so much music that has been unfamiliar to me, but so beautiful.
