Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, April 23rd

Posted at April 23, 2006 12:00 PM in Classical .

This is one of our most-anticipated classical performances of the entire season. Perlman and Zukerman have each performed at the Kimmel Center before, but this is the first time they'll appear here together, with Mr. Perlman's longtime accompanist Rohan De Silva. What did you think of the performance this afternoon? the musicianship? the program?

My husband and I had anticipated this concert for a long time. I am sorry to say we were disappointed. It seemed to us that both artists are so busy with their separate careers that there did not seem to have been enough time to properly prepare for this particular concert. It was a good concert, but we had come to see the two greatest violinists together in concert - taking that into consideration, a "good concert" was not enough. A week earlier, we had listened to Lang-Lang - there was no comparison! Ursula and Jim Russo
