Looking for a unique place to host an intimate gathering? Well, you should check out the often forgotten gem inside the Kimmel Center known as the Third Tier Lounge! My co-workers often laugh at my enthusiasm over this one event space, mainly because they don’t really know where it is and think I am making it up. But it does really exist, and it is very cool!
Not surprisingly, it is located on the Third Tier level of the Center. One of the factors that makes it such a great space is that it is located on the level of the building where the vaulted glass dome of the roof meets the main structure of the building. In fact, the beams supporting the dome come down to the floor of the room and frame the space and the view of Verizon Hall from the tier. Not only do you get an awesome view of the glass dome from that vantage point, but you feel as if you are in the dome structure. Also, as one of the smaller spaces in the Center, the Third Tier Lounge has a lot of charm. I have fantasized about holding a cocktail party up there for about 30 people, and I am waiting for someone to actually make it happen. So, if you are intrigued, please oblige me and be the first to throw one really hip soirée up in the Third Tier Lounge!
Funny, I thought I was the only one with a special fondness for the 3rd Tier. It's the one place in the building that truly makes you feel like you're IN the glass vaulted roof. Having a party there would be very cool ... but you can also just visit it anytime the building is open -- just take the north elevator to T3.
