Tony Bennett, September 15th

Frank Sinatra called Tony Bennett, "the best singer in the business." Do you agree with Old Blue Eyes? What did you think of Tony's performance tonight?

I can't believe Hank Williams would have said to Bennett "Why did you do that to My Cold Cold Heart" It was a GREAT arrangement!!!! Clearly Bennett is getting on in years, but man, that was just a tasteful performance if there ever was one. Pianist a bit garrish at times but in essence the ensemble playing was just amazing, very tight. Harold Jones, drummer, was astounding, fantastic transitions and change-ups, just overall very tasty...Thanks for a great show!

The ensemble was amazing. At times during the night I thought Bennett's voice was showing his age, but when I heard him sing "Fly Me to the Moon" with no amplification, I was stunned by how strong he sounded. He's really an elegant performer. I normally prefer Sinatra's version of "The Best Is Yet To Come" to anyone else's, but Bennett made it a little sweeter. His interpretation of "They Can't Take That Away from Me" was just the right mix of sad and celebratory. What a great way to start the weekend!
